The Great Undoing of a damaged delivery

Returns Policy authors-books

authors-books sales are final

The authors-books returns policy is that a sale is final. The actual seller of a book is the book author’s business entity which is responsible for the signing where appropriate, packaging and postage of the book. authors-books does not provide a mechanism for the return of a book you have purchased. However, we do want to be certain you receive your book quickly and in good condition.

Your Order Received

When you pay for a book at authors-books a website page headed ‘Order received’ will be displayed to you. Within minutes of your order being received you should receive an email from authors-books with a subject line giving your order number and saying your order is received. This email is also copied to the author’s business entity selling your book. Should you not receive your book within a reasonable time, please reply to this email requesting proof of posting. This reply will go to the author’s business entity.

What to do if you don’t get an Order Received email

Your Book has been Posted

When the author packages and posts your book, they have agreed to have some photographed proof of postage. When posted they should then set your order status to Completed resulting in an email being sent to you with a subject line saying your order has been posted. In a reasonable time after that you should receive your book.

Your Book Received

You should receive your book quickly, well packaged, signed if agreed and in good condition. However, what to do if this is not the case?

What to do if your book is received damaged

If your book has been damaged in the post when it was delivered to you, please

  • Photograph the damage to the book
  • Reply to the email saying your book has been posted, noting the book has been received damaged and include photographs of the damage. (Note: It is the author’s responsibility to rectify cases of damaged books. See further guidance here).
  • Wait for a replacement book to be sent to you, this time hopefully received in good condition.
  • Dispose of your damaged book as you see fit. Possibly it goes in the paper recycling?
What to do if your book is not signed

Reply to your order posted email and discuss with the author how the issue should be remedied. Maybe they’ll ask you to post the book back to them for signing or maybe they’ll send you free of charge another copy signed as agreed? It’s the author’s responsibility to remedy the issue.
