Because you are required to agree to this, in the spirit of this agreement, we will make it as short as possible.
1. We (authors-books a trading name of Data Stream Pty Limited) will act honestly and in accordance with the laws of the state of New South Wales and the dictates and guidance of the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC).
2. We will, to the best of our ability, comply with the GDPR and any other state promulgated data protection provisions.
3. authors-books is a service provider for authors to sell their books online to you (the customer).
3a) In the following, references to the author should be read as applying also to a business entity the author may use to process and account for the sale of a book. Such an entity is listed with each book as “Seller” for which in Australia there may be an ABN (Australian Business Number).
3b) authors-books provides the online website presence for a book description and the ability for you to purchase that book from the author.
3c) authors-books notifies the author of the sale of their book by copying to them the Order Received1 email that is sent to you. It is the author’s responsibility to package and post the book to you.
3d) authors-books should not be contacted about book delivery as that is entirely the responsibility of the author. If you reply to the Order Received email, such reply goes to the author and you can thus enquire about delivery. However, you should, within a day or so of your order, receive an Order Posted2 email notification that the author will trigger.
3e) In the circumstance that an author fails to respond and does not post your book, then authors-books will process a refund. However, this really should never be the case, as presumably an author wishes to receive payment for their book which cannot happen before it has been posted.
4. To place an order for a book through us you must be registered (i.e. have an account) with us. If you have not already registered with us, you will automatically be registered based on the bare minimum essential details you supply with your first purchase of a book from the seller. We do not store credit card or other non essential details.
5. The book(s) must be paid for in full at the time the order is placed on this website using the payment provisions provided by this website. There is no order cancellation facility.
6. Refunds will be provided, as in 3e above, and otherwise in accordance with ACCC provisions.
7. You agree to act honestly and in accordance with the governing law of the jurisdiction from which you are interacting with this website.
8. This Agreement shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of New South Wales.
9. Online purchases can only be made for delivery to an address in the countries shown in the dropdown list on the Checkout page. For other sales please enquire through the Contact Us form.
